I met Timothea in Ibiza in the mid 90's- where she climbed up to a Bar stool and ordered double Jack Daniels - No Ice then turned to me and my mate and said - 'So where are you boys from' Then proceeded to tell us her very colour life. Which included knowing Janice Joplin.
I ended up spending the evening with her even getting to listen to some studio cuts at her apartment (She was on the island to record for some German producer) which included her version of Blue Velvet unfortunately never released - Does any body know if there are plans to release that material?

DOWN IN LOUISIANA is one of my favorite of all the SONNY LANDRETH albums. It has such an original flavor. All the musicans on this album were some of the finest I've ever heard. Mike Binet on drums and Mel Melton on harp and vocals are not currently playing with Sonny Landreth and Dave Ranson. They had a unique blend and creative response while working together. I also want to mention that this version of CONGO SQUARE is the original; and STILL the BEST. This is the album that started it all for SONNY LANDRETH; I can certainly see why.

i am so sorry to hear of timothea's passing.when i was still learning the bones of my trade ,she was kind and courteous and decent and the embodiment to us of that new orleans soul that so many try to capture.her band were so great and we came to see them every night,i will pass on to the guys -one of whom is a true music legend in his own right- who still remember timothea and that time with much affection.after the hurricane i was in a church and there was a collection for their sister parish in new orleans, ithought of the musicians i knew there and said a prayer for them,i dont go to church much and just happened to be there that day,it struck me -as it often does -that musicians are own people and that this was our people suffering.people dont understand what new orleans means to musicians,its devastation is hard to accept anyway Timothea is part of what made it great.all love Sean Millar.
