Volunteer Opportunities to help
with Hepatitis C Outreach!!!
Siren To Wail Hepatitis C Awareness Organization is looking
for volunteers to help with the following. If you are skilled
in any of these areas please call 891-4166 or fill out the email
form at the bottom of the page.
for special people who are interested in helping others and
making a difference. There are a variety of volunteer jobs available
and we attempt to match you with a position that will meet your
needs and optimize your talents. Schedule based on demand
Events (Short Term): Provides time limited support for special
events or programs, such as set up and registration, Ticket
taking, working auction's, providing transportation picking
up auction items food or people. Help with short-term projects
like mass mailings, data processing, researching information,
phone calls, etc. Very flexible hours: can be structured around
your schedule and agency needs.
Assistant: Time obligation is negotiable but a 6-month commitment
is needed. Must have some computer skills to do data entry in
EpiInfo. Light office work and answering phones.
Group Leader: Lead a support/discussion group for people
with hepatitis C 1-2 times a month. Training and supervision
are provided but does require someone who has good people skills,
is a strong role model, and will operate within the guidelines
of Siren To Wail. Requires a commitment of at least 6 months
and must be willing to take phone calls from new and existing
group members in between meetings. New leaders are especially
needed in the city of New Orleans, The West bank and in the
Buddy: Provides support to a newly diagnosed client over
the phone for a time-limited period. Must be Hep C-challenged
individual who will be a good role model and provide helpful
information and encouragement. (This is not a counseling program.)
Training and on-going supervision provided. Must be willing
to attend quarterly training/supervision sessions and keep time
sheet of calls. Time commitment of 6 months or longer with 1-2
hours a week per Telephone Buddy needed.
Translator/Consultant: Reviews translations for accuracy,
assists with verbal language translations when needed, acts
as a liaison/consultant to the Hispanic community in public
awareness efforts. Requires strong bilingual skills. Computer
skills helpful. Time commitment of 4-8 hours a month, flexible
schedule, work from home possible.
Committee Head: Assists with fund raising ideas and activities.
Attend bimonthly committee meetings and help with fund raising
projects. A background in finance, fund raising, or business
as well as creative thinking would be helpful. Time obligation
is negotiable but a 6-month commitment is needed.
Coordinator: Recruits and helps to train and monitor volunteers.
Good communication and organizational skills needed, with enthusiasm
and sense of humor a plus. Will help design and get this program
up and running. Requires a time commitment of at least 6 months,
minimum of one half day a week. Some activities can be completed
